Dundee & Tayside - Friday, December 3, 2010

Dundee & Tayside - Friday, December 3, 2010 Video Clips. Duration : 28.12 Mins.

Services at hospitals across Tayside are expected to return to normal on Monday. Earlier this week all but emergency procedures had to be cancelled as hospitals in the region became a casualty of the cold snap. All out patient appointments and elective non-urgent surgical procedures were postponed to ensure staff could be freed up to concentrate on medical priorities. Staff at an animal rescue centre near Dundee say they've been struggling to cope during the cold snap. The Scottish SPCA base at Petterden has been covered under a thick blanket of snow for the past week. The charity is finding it difficult to take in abandoned pets because people who have offered animals already residing at the centre new homes, haven't been able to pick them up. And finally, a Dundee university student has his hopes on Hollywood after scooping a prestigious script-writing award. Jordan Dunbar was named Most Promising Screenwriter of the Year at the Cinemagic Film and Television Festival for his soap opera Skint, which is set in the City of Discovery. This is an international version of the news which may have been edited for rights reasons.
